265 to 185. 80 pounds gone.
When I came back from deployment I weighed 265 pounds. I was drinking every night. Eating garbage. Couldn't walk up stairs without getting winded.
The VA therapist said exercise might help with the other stuff too. I thought that was BS.
I started walking. Just walking. A mile a day. Then two. Then I started jogging. Then I found this community and saw other vets getting after it.
This morning I weighed in at 185. That's 80 pounds gone. But the number isn't even the point. I sleep through the night now. I haven't had a drink in 9 months. I ran a half marathon last month.
The weight was never the real problem. It was everything underneath. But losing it proved to me that I could change. If I could do this, I could do anything.
To my fellow vets: the war isn't over when you come home. But you can win this one too.
